Ben Darby

Ben Darby is the son of John Darby and the Managing Partner within the Firm.

Having studied Law at the University of the West of England and Exeter University, Ben joined the family firm in 2000.  Ben's background is as a Court Duty Solicitor and a qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor.  As a Higher Rights Advocate Ben has appeared in Courts across the Country from the Magistrates to the Court of Appeal.  Away from the Courts Ben heads our Wills, Probate and Inheritance Tax Planning team, giving advice to Clients with estates of all sizes and complexity.  He is also a member of Solicitors For the Elderly gaining accreditation for this Firm along the way.  

Outside of the Office Ben has been the driving force behind, and Chairman of, the South Devon Residential Property Forum.  This forum brings together many of the key players in residential property transactions (Estate Agents, Lawyers, Brokers etc) both virtually and face to face to help grow working relationships and a collaborative culture to help the conveyancing process to beome less stressful for all concerned, particularly our mutual clients.  

Ben continues to promote the profession away from the office, acting previously as an Equality & Diversity Mentor for the Law Society.  Ben continues to be a Career Mentor for undergraduates and postgraduates at Exeter Unviersity looking to embark on their legal career.  He has also addressed students in both primary and secondary schools on the same topic.
