Ben Darby is Managing Partner of Darby & Darby Solicitors, a thriving South Devon law firm with offices in Torquay, Dartmouth and Brixham, where he leads the firm’s growth and innovation with a client-first mindset.

Ben began his legal career as a criminal defence solicitor, representing clients from police station interviews through to the Court of Appeal. As the local demand for criminal work decreased and legal aid pressures grew, he broadened his expertise into private client services – a field he had always maintained alongside his criminal practice. He went on to lead Darby & Darby’s private client department.

Under Ben’s leadership, the firm has experienced significant transformation, tripling in size. Darby & Darby is now one of the fastest-growing high street firms in South Devon, serving individuals and families across a broad range of legal needs.

Ben combines legal insight with commercial vision. He works closely with clients and colleagues to develop solutions that are both practical and progressive, particularly where traditional legal services intersect with modern challenges.

In 2023, Ben co-founded Ordli, a legal technology platform designed to support lay attorneys. The project has secured over £450,000 in combined public and private investment following a research and development collaboration with the University of Exeter.
